El Prince Finally Re-Opens in 6th of October

After disappearing for years, the street-food classic returns with a new address and the same claim-to-fame heat.

Scene Eats

For nearly 30 years, El Prince was Imbaba’s gastronomic pilgrimage. Egyptians traversed bridges, sat in unbearable traffic and queued on sidewalks just to get a taste of the sizzling liver plate and that delightful, comical anarchy of street-table energy. Then in 2022, the lights went out. The shutters came down, and the legend ceased to be. Loyal followers walked the roads of Cairo with empty plates still full of emotional baggage.

But, plot twist, we are in a pre-comeback era, as whispers and posts have surfaced over the last couple of days announcing a new El Prince location within the 6th of October City, First District, behind Hyper, located near the White Mosque, and not too far from Baheya Hospital.

There’s still no official announcement (because of course the soft-launch had to start as street gossip), but the buzz is loud enough to resurrect memories of smoky tables, waiters speed-walking with boiling pans, and the unspoken rule that calories consumed at El Prince never counted.
