Japanese Restaurant Odoriko Opens on Egypt's North Coast

There are certain restaurants that seem incapable of staying put. Like touring musicians or that one friend who somehow spends every weekend in a different beach house, they migrate the moment summer begins. Odoriko is the latest.

After earning a following in Sheikh Zayed for its Japanese menu and dangerously persuasive desserts, Better Folks Hospitality's restaurant has opened on Egypt's North Coast at Playa, bringing its sashimi, gyoza, bao buns and sushi rolls to a stretch of coastline where "I'll just have something light" has historically ended very badly.

The move also means Sahel diners can now once again test the limits of ordering "a few things to share"—a phrase that almost always ends with a table covered in salmon, tuna, wagyu, noodles and enough soy sauce to qualify as a small inland sea.

For those already familiar with the Zayed original, the signatures have made the trip north. The torched truffle salmon, reef-and-beef gyoza, truffle bao burger and matcha desserts are all on the menu, ready to continue their long-running campaign against portion control.

Summer, after all, is the season of questionable financial decisions and excellent meals. Odoriko has arrived just in time for both.
