Cairo’s sweet tooth brigade, take note: Switzerland’s Läderach has landed, and restraint will be in short supply. The high-end Zürich chocolatier, whispered about among cocoa connoisseurs with the reverence usually reserved for vintage wine, is opening its first Egyptian boutique at Waterway 2.
Läderach has built its reputation on precision—think of it as the Rolex of chocolate. Its FrischSchoggi, delicate slabs of freshly tempered chocolate, is less of a casual indulgence and more of an edible art installation (best consumed before Cairo’s humidity intervenes). And for those who believe dessert should come with a side of extravagance, there’s even edible gold. Because if you’re going to indulge, you might as well make it decorative.
