Tseppas Drops Limited Edition Matcha Infused Kahk

Should we be worried?

Cara Burdon

Cairo’s dessert scene has taken another sharp turn—this time, toward green. Tseppas just dropped a matcha-flavored kahk, swapping out the usual powdered sugar for a dusting of Japanese green tea. The classic Eid biscuit, known for its buttery, melt-in-your-mouth crumb, has officially joined the flavor remix trend.

At this point, matcha has shown up in everything—croissants, kunafa, you name it. And now, it's slipping into Eid tins, whether invited or not.

For some, it’s a playful spin on a nostalgic staple. For others, it raises the question: does kahk really need reinventing? The usual suspects—agameya, walnut, malban, date—have held strong for generations.

Is matcha kahk the next big thing, or just a one-Eid experiment? That’s up to the taste tests. But if your kahk tin’s looking a little greener this year, now you know why.
