Considering this injustice, Egypt’s first and only female led AVPN-affiliated pizzeria, What the Crust, announced its expansion to Alexandria. After leaving this news to ferment for a while, its new branch in Green Plaza is finally open!

The phrase "authentic Italian pizza" gets thrown around a lot, but at What the Crust, they mean it. Head Chef Dareen—the only Arab pizza chef ranked on 50 Top Pizza’s World 100 Best—crafts each pizza using a mix of local and imported Italian ingredients, staying true to classic Neapolitan traditions and techniques. Baked in a handmade Neapolitan oven and officially certified by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana (AVPN), every pie is the real deal.

The menu balances beloved classics like the Diavola and Romana with decadent signature creations, including The Wild One and Carnivora.

Now, Alexandrians can get a slice of the action. Opening in an outdoor spot next to Tacosan and BRGR, What the Crust’s new branch brings the same Neapolitan flavors that made it a favourite in Cairo.
