We Almost Fell for These April Fools' Foodie Drops

Available at no branches near you.

Raneem Maaly

April Fools in food land always starts harmless enough, a couple of playful menu “launches” that make you pause, squint, and briefly wonder if the internet has finally run out of boundaries. Somewhere between the absurd and the almost-believable, brands took their best swing at confusing us, and a few of them were dangerously close to being good ideas.

This year’s lineup sits in that sweet spot between “why would you do this” and “okay but… I’d try it.” From sauces that refuse to ruin your outfit to matcha experiments that definitely didn’t ask for a seafood twist, here’s a roundup of the food April Fools drops we almost fell for.

Scene Cinemas | Strawberry Matcha Popcorn

Now this we can actually get behind.

Bambino | No Stain Sauce

A sauce that doesn’t stain your white shirt. We’d like to believe this is real, and if there’s science that can make it happen, we’re open to funding it.

The Better Concept | Tuna Cold Foam Matcha

The only thing your matcha was missing was apparently tuna and protein.

Bombolini | Tomato, Nutella & Za’atar, Sweet Corn Takis, Baba Ghanouj Donuts

The confusing part is two of these already exist on the menu, so at this point April Fools is just their regular programming.

Holy Guac | Creamy Pistachio Sauce Bowl

What difference does it really make at this point, guac or pistachio sauce on your warm bowl? They’re both green, both creamy, surely they’re interchangeable.
