Dinner Under The Moon Lets You Taste the Art at Darb 15
At Darb 15, Lumino Experience and chef Rawan Salama bring art, music and seasonal dishes together for a dinner that engages all the senses.
At Dinner Under The Moon, a drawing can become the starting point for dinner. Held at Maadi’s Darb 15, the Lumino Experience pop-up brings chef Rawan Salama’s artwork to the table, with dishes that take their colours and inspiration from the same theme as the art surrounding them.
For this edition, Salama collaborated with Lumino Experience on both the artwork and the menu, building a dinner where the visual direction carries through to what guests eat. A shade of pink in a drawing, for instance, might inspire a pink sauce, while the colours in a composition can find their way onto a plate through a mix of ingredients.
Salama’s approach to cooking comes from a love of bringing people together. What began as a fun project in 2022 under her Wannabe Chef concept grew from a simple idea: food is a language of love, and a way for people to connect around a shared table.
Seasonality also shapes her menus. She looks at the fruits and ingredients available at the time, letting what is in season influence what ends up on the table. Sometimes, the process starts with a drawing, with the artwork guiding the colours and ideas behind a dish.
At Dinner Under The Moon, guests encounter those ideas through more than taste alone. The lighting and music follow the dinner’s creative direction, giving the artwork and dishes a shared context. The result is a meal where the story behind a plate is part of the experience of eating it.
While this marked the final Dinner Under The Moon of the summer, it was not the last of Lumino Experience’s pop-up dinners. Follow Darb 15 on Instagram for updates on the next event.
