Seven Fortunes Wants You to Know: This is (Not) a Run Club!
Your Saturday coffee, but first a 5K? Seven Fortunes promises it’s (not) a run club.
Seven Fortunes just launched a run club - or, excuse me, (not) a run club. We already know Seven Fortunes for its coffee, matcha and baked goods across Egypt. Now, they’re venturing into new territory, adding a workout to your Saturday morning coffee. But the point is not the physical exercise as much as it is the community.
Seven Fortunes marketing manager Dina El-Hakim spearheaded the idea with founder Karim Hassan. She was inspired by the run club she joined when she studied abroad in Paris to make friends in the new city. But the runs were much longer than she expected.
“We had to run 17 kilometers,” she laughed. “I didn’t want people to have to go that far to find a community - so, we started (not) a run club.”
“So, are we running or not?” People asked when they saw the announcement go viral on Instagram. Yes you will run, but a much less intimidating five kilometres instead of 17. And you absolutely do not have to be a “runner” to join. “You can just come and chill with us and belong to a community,” El-Hakim said.
The inaugural run took place on Saturday, February 7th at their branch in Waterway, complete with protein shakes, merch, and, of course, a Seven Fortunes drink of your choice at the finish line.
For future runs, you can fill out the form at the link in their bio.
