Babbo’s Ushers in new era With Zamalek Location

Its the health-focused eatery’s first standalone spot in Cairo’s fabled suburb.

Babbo’s newest location was born out of an organic conversation. The health-conscious Cairo-based eatery’s founder Babbo, whose real name is Aboubakr, stumbled upon Numero Cinq, a boutique hotel housed in an old villa in Zamalek, walked in, struck a conversation with the owner, and, just like that, they decided to collaborate."I’m one of the people that’s fighting to keep the inner city of Cairo alive, the areas like Zamalek that are walkable, Babbo explains. "I had a lot of other opportunities to open restaurants in malls and in compounds. But I wanted to chose locations that I believe in…that have a soul.”Born into the owning family of Andrea El Mariouteya, food and beverage has been engrained in the restauranteur from a young age. This new location adds to the growing list of the eateries that carry his name while bringing the same food and comforting, familiar vibes as the Gezeira Sporting Club location and North Coast's Sidi Heneish venue.“It’s a hangout for our local community and the expats around the area,” adds Babbo. “Our concept is clean eating Egyptian fusion, so you get a mix of both worlds.”

Babos fel Villa is open from 8 am until midnight every day on Bahgat Ali street.
