Cairo’s VOILÀ Dessert Shop is Hitting all the Notes This Ramadan

With a Ramadan campaign as sweet as their desserts, VOILÀ - literally - delivers masterpieces.

Ziyad El-Helbawy

There’s no denying that Ramadan is a time for theatrics; from lantern-dotted streets to the beats of local suhoor drummers, this theatricality manifests in every aspect of the holy month, and it’s a ritual we simply cannot do without. This Ramadan, Cairene dessert haven VOILÀ is joining in on the commotion with a Ramadan campaign honouring the essence of the season.

Introducing a slew of Ramadan desserts, VOILÀ went above and beyond when it came to showcasing their oh-so-sweet goodies; beyond accentuating their new and inventive flavours and takes on the Ramadan classics, VOILÀ’s Ramadan campaign is one meant to cater to all the senses with a literal orchestra in their arsenal. So what sweet notes are they playing this month?

To start off, it’s customary to break your fast with dates - and VOILÀ delivers with literal ‘Dates to Remember’; stuffed with nuts, cream cheese, or coated with silky-smooth chocolate. One can’t forget about the classics, and they certainly did not. VOILÀ’s Ramadan menu naturally features the desserts we all know and love, think Kunafas, Basbousas, Fostoqeyas, Zalanbya, Sawabe’ Zeinab, and more classic dessert table guests - with chocolate and pistachio being prime options for those seeking variety, because let’s be honest, no Ramadan dessert in this decade is complete without some pistachio.

Yet if the classics are a little too old school for you, VOILÀ has got you covered, after all - what’s a Ramadan menu without a few ‘Eftekasat’? Mango Kunafa Brulée, Tamr Brulée, Rocher Kunafa Bowls, Salted Caramel Baklava Ice Cream, and Biscoff Kunafa Bowls only scratch the surface of what VOILÀ - magically - conjured up for the month. The options are endless, but isn’t that the fun part? Even if you find yourself scrambling to make a decision, VOILÀ has an answer for that as well.

If a more ‘demure’ approach to Ramadan desserts is something that resonates with you, you’ll find that VOILÀ offers a series of very mindful dessert cups. These bite-sized handheld pieces of bless also come in myriad variations, from Biscoff Kunafa, Pistachio Cheesecake Kunafa, and Batata Brulée, all the way to fruity Tropical Fusion Parfaits, Tamr Brulée cups, and more.

We’d be remiss to forget about ice-cream, of which is offered in dollops at the Cairene dessert shop. Perhaps a Raspberry Chocolate Cheesecake ice cream cake will ‘tickle your fancy’, or you might even find yourself inclined to join in on the theatrics with a Carnival Ice Cream Cake. Regardless of what your choice may be, just make sure you don’t count your calories, that’s always been a social construct.

So you see, when it comes to Ramadan, there are so many sweet and tender notes just waiting to be played, and this year, VOILÀ did not miss out on the opportunity to do so, literally.
