Indian Coffee Joint Chapati Opens on Alex Corniche
Chapati is bringing the Indian teatime experience right to Alex.
Indian coffee shop Chapati has just opened doors in Alexandria’s corniche. Aside from a seemingly normal cafe menu, there does lie a South Asian gem or two within there— actually, precisely two. Karak and, of course, chapati.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with the delish food and beverage, karak is a South Asian and sometimes khaleeji tea beverage that is a kind of variation on masala chai. Chai means tea, or literally shay, but what differentiates masala chai from karak chai is the spice mix and the fact that it’s made with evaporated milk. Which if you haven’t tried in your coffee btw, you’re missing out.
The next sweet contender is chapati, which is best described as an Indian crepe. Although sometimes made without sugar, the chapati in question is topped off with fruits, Nutella, white chocolate, Lotus, or peanut butter— so its safe to say its the superior Indian bread variation.
The cafe is already open in Alexandria, and is located near Mahmoud El-Isawy street. For the exact location and their full menu visit their site, chapaticoffee.com.
