NYC’s First Onigiri Truck Lands in New Cairo's The Drive

Could getting a wagyu onigiri from a truck be in the cards for us?

Musubin, the NYC-born onigiri truck built around Japanese comfort food, has just pulled into New Cairo for its soft opening at Waterway’s The Drive. Still in its early phase, the setup is currently leaning drink-forward, but the promise is already clear: a grab-and-go stop that translates Tokyo street logic through a New York lens, now parked locally.

Right now, their drink menu offers Kyoto ceremonial matcha, a selection of teas, and Brooklyn specialty coffee roasts that anchor the menu in a trans-city identity.

When the kitchen fully kicks in, Musubin is expected to introduce its core identity: onigiri, also known as omusubi or nigirimeshi — Japanese rice balls shaped into triangles or cylinders and wrapped in nori. If it follows its NYC blueprint, expect clean, punchy fillings like yuzu tuna, salmon, and possibly wagyu, all designed for quick, handheld eating without losing precision.
