NYC’s First Onigiri Truck Just Pulled Up to New Cairo
Girl dinner just got a Japanese upgrade at Musubin’ in The Drive 2.
Just when Cairo thought it had seen every possible food trend, an onigiri truck rolled into town.
Musubin' has officially opened at The Drive 2, bringing a menu built around Japan's favourite grab-and-go staple and giving New Cairo residents a new answer to the eternal question of what to eat when you're hungry but unwilling to commit to a full sit-down meal.
The current lineup includes flavours like spicy salmon, spicy tuna, smoked salmon, truffle salmon, and shrimp tempura, all tucked into handheld rice balls that are engineered for eating on the move, in the car, between meetings, or while pretending you're the main character in a Tokyo convenience store run.
But the onigiri aren't flying solo. Musubin' is also pouring ceremonial-grade matcha sourced directly from Kyoto, with a range of drinks for anyone whose personality has become at least 30% matcha over the past year.
And while the current menu is already drawing a crowd, the team has confirmed that additional food items are on the way, expanding beyond onigiri in the coming months. What exactly are they? We asked. They smiled. That's all we've got for now.
