Talabat, Formerly Known as Otlob, Will Launch 30-Minute Grocery Delivery
After acquiring Otlob, Delivery Hero will be adding 30-minute grocery delivery to the new ‘Talabat’ app.
Talabat— formerly known as Otlob, has launched its new lewk in the region after being acquired by Delivery Hero. What was Egypt’s oldest food delivery app has gotten a spicy new makeover alongside a healthy addition of new services, namely due to Delivery Hero’s acquisition of Carriage and Instashop at the same time, making for a bigger and better service variety which includes 20,000 new restaurants. Most importantly though, they’re launching a new 30-minute grocery delivery service that will run 24/7. Our only question is, when was this during quarantine?
The grocery delivery service, ‘Talabat Mart,’ will be launching in Cairo first by the end of 2020, and will be powered by dark stores. The service is currently already operating in Kuwait and the UAE, so it is only a matter of time before they optimise it for Cairenes.
Sofiene Marzouki, the managing director at Talabat Egypt announced in a press statement that the expansion plans bring 50,000 new employment opportunities for Egyptians as riders. “Today, we start redefining the way Egyptians experience ordering food, groceries – and more – online. It is not just a name change or a color change from yellow to orange. With this change, we bring a new mindset. We’re excited to provide Egyptians with a truly world-class experience, based on affordability, variety and speed,” Marzouki added.
