'Two Grandmas, One Table' Turns Port Said Into a Food Trip
This day trip to Port Said combines local food, city stops and a hosted meal experience.
‘Two Grandmas, One Table’ is a full-day trip from Cairo to Port Said that brings together food, local culture and shared traditions through a guided experience across the city.
Hosted by Zeina Dowidar, StaBene, Hekayyatna, Teta Loula from Cairo and Teta Mary from Port Said, the day unfolds gradually. It begins with breakfast on the bus – homemade sandwiches prepared by Teta – followed by coffee by the sea and Friday prayers.
From there, the group moves through the city with StaBene, stopping at local bakeries and sweet shops before ending the afternoon with a live Semseya performance.
As the day winds down, the focus returns to the table. Teta Loula and Teta Mary host a sit-down meal that brings the experience together through a shared spread rooted in both cities.
Port Said’s layered history and everyday rhythms shape the experience, offering a setting where food becomes part of a wider cultural context rather than the sole focus.
