Your Favourite Sahel Nightlife Spot is More Than What Meets the Eye

It’s about time we champion the long-forgotten delicacies of Kiki’s kitchen.

Layla Raik

When one hears “Kiki’s”, we often think of bustling all-nighters, the expanse of the North Coast beach, and maybe that one summer fling. But what we consistently forget about, quite unfairly, is that Kiki’s is not a pub, not a meditation space, and not even just a bar - it is a fantastic resto-bar, dishing out sumptuous delicacies for every meal of the day.

While most Kiki’s fanatics typically frequent the spot at nighttime, simply because we can’t possibly force ourselves to wake up early on our off days in summer, I would like to argue the case that Kiki’s in the morning is a more gratifying experience.

If nothing else, the view of crystal clear waves hitting the white shore is enough to make a morning all the better - but paired with Kiki’s breakfast truffle roast beef calzone, or a Greek yoghurt and granola (if you’re a healthy kween), it becomes an entirely different experience. To put it into perspective, it’s the that-girl experience of the summer.

If you’re a late riser like yours truly, and not a fan of the whole brunch thing, don’t fret - Kiki’s lunch menu is as culinarily entertaining as their breakfast, and this time, the meal is particularly satisfactory. You have (probably) taken a dip in the pool/beach, after all, and are likely to be ravenous - a hunger that can only be put to rest by Kiki’s focaccia board, which features the Italian bread in many forms, including bresaola, camembert and roast beef. Kiki’s lunch options also include sliders, salads (cool ones, like the mango shrimp quinoa salad), and flavourful warm dishes, like the delicious (and vegan!) baked feta eggplant.

For dinner, the most important meal of the day only because by that time we’ve sufficiently warmed up and are ready for a night of nonstop fun, Kiki’s offers an extensive array of dishes - including sushi. Now, I have long been a believer that sushi works best when paired with a view of the sea. But, if I’m being honest, that rule works best when it’s a night view of the sea. Don’t shoot the messenger.

If you’re less of a seafood person, you can enjoy Kiki’s pasta and risotto, or either of their two star platters: the chateaubriand fillet or the Mega Milanese, which consists of fried chicken schnitzel done according to the spot’s secret recipe.

Now, you can’t miss dessert - not just because it’s as necessary as the main course, but also because you can get Mövenpick’s signature ice cream at the spot. For more upscale - “grown-up”- options, opt for the coffee créme brulée or the caramel vanilla French toast.
