Latin-American Kitchen Gracias Opens Its First Bistro in District 5

Serving up a whole new experience for their signature Salchipapas and Quesadillas, Gracias satiating all our Latin cravings.

That trip to Latin America never made it out of the group chat? Well, while you might miss out on the views (and the flaming situationships), you certainly do not have to miss out on the dining experience. Launching their very first bistro at New Cairo’s District 5, Modern Latin-American kitchen Gracias - ever so famous for their mouth-watering shrimp de mango tacos, meato burritos, and all sorts of Latin-American culinary staples, is entering a delicious new era.

With kitchens in Arkan Plaza and The Drive by The Waterway, Chef Perihan Saleh has  introduced a new elevated - and not as casual - experience for her culinary brainchild…

“My vision has always been to have Gracias encapsulate everything Latin-American. We started off with the most accessible concept: gourmet street food, but it was time for us to take it a step further,” Chef Perihan Saleh tells SceneEats. “With Gracias Bistro, we’re serving all sorts of Latin cuisines; Brazilian, Argentinian, and Colombian,” Saleh adds.

Though Gracias Bistro is indeed an elevated take on the classic Gracias experience, it retains the same laidback ease and comfort that Saleh had intended to hallmark her brand. “It’s still a lite experience, we just wanted people to linger longer, take in the ambiance over a great cup of coffee or dessert,” Saleh tells SceneEats.

Inspired by Latin-American laidback living, Gracias Bistro is a “modern tropical” bistro, as Chef Peri describes. With greenery, bright colours dotting the interiors, and wooden accents all throughout, the bistro is a haven for the spice-seeking soul. “We wanted it to be organic, because that’s where the comfort truly comes in,” Saleh notes.

The menu at the new District 5 Gracias Bistro is packed with all of Gracias Kitchen’s signature staples, including the ‘Fattah of Mexico’ Birria bowls, all sorts of burritos, special tacos, and - not to forget - their oh-so-sweet churros. With the new Argentinian, Brazilian, and Colombian additions, the Gracias Bistro menu is in a constant evolutionary state. “It’s a collective result of our team’s experience over the years, we’re taking staples from the past that proved successful, but we’re also trying out new things we encountered on our travels across the continent,” Saleh shares.

If you’re looking for recommendations from Chef Peri herself, she would humbly put forth the Brazilian chicken rice and the Cubano sliders - the very same made famous in the 2014 film ‘The Chef’.


A culmination of years of planning, Gracias Bistro is just one of the very first steps towards the Latin-American take-over Chef Perihan Saleh is gearing towards. With plans to introduce lite Latin-American catering and a fully-dedicated Latin-American coffee shop, it seems Gracias Bistro is only the first of many evolutions we’ll stand to witness.

So if perhaps you simply couldn’t make your mind up on where to have your next food-coma sponsored catch-up with your besties, we’d say the new Gracias Bistro at District 5 is a destination you cannot go wrong with.
