The Only Latin American Spots Worth Trying in Cairo

Let's taco about these Latin American restaurants in Cairo cause y'all need to try them.

Staff Writer

Call it a cliché thing to say, but there’s no denying that Cairo is the melting pot of the country. There are people from, like, a gazillion other countries that are not Om El Donia -- which explains the Chinatown that we have in Abbaseya. Wild, huh? The best part of this cultural interchange is that we can find yumtastic food without ever leaving the country. One of our favourites? Latin, hands down. This brings us to today’s story…

We did some research and came up with this roundup of restaurants with comida deliciosas. From arepas to pico de gallo, all the way to the dulce de leche dessert flan, here’s a precious list on where to find the best Latin-American food in the capital.

Gracias

We here at SceneEats have always rooted for Gracias ever since we stumbled upon it in Sahel as a pop-up. With their branch at Cairo Capital Promenade, we are lucky to catch their heavenly tacos at literally any time of the day.

SceneEats Tip: We remember saying Mexican food is more than just tacos, but Gracias comfortably sits atop the Taco Throne of Cairo. Try their tacos, please. Any of them.

Tabla Luna

Located in the heart of Maadi, this place is easily one of our favourite restaurants in the capital. The Latin American joint will metaphorically take you all the way to the part of the world and back you guys.

SceneEats Tip: You should definitely jump for their chilli nachos. And if you're a sweet tooth --cause who isn't-- make sure to dive into their Torte De Tres.

Gringo's Burrito Grill

The first thing that falls into mind when your hear Gringo's is Mexican food--Duhh. This joint started out as a delivery service, and now dazzles us away all over Cairo and Sahel. If you weren't already a big burrito fan, you will now fall in love with them.

SceneEats Tip: They have the biggest burrito in the country that weighs one kilogram. Go big or go home.

Taco's

Ironically, we are not here to recommend their Taco's (LOL), we are here to make sure for you to try their quesadillas, cause they're da bomb.

SceneEats Tip: Their grilled shrimps quesadilla is what's up.

Mezcal

Dress up cause you're about to travel all the way to Latin America with Mezcal-- obvi not literally. Mezcal is putting a fancy twist on your dine-in experience and some delish AF food.

SceneEats Tip: Whatever you do, make sure to start your meal with the spicy guacamole appetiser, cause it is out of this world.
