Abdel Rahim Koueider Releases 'Not Fried Chicken’ Ice Cream

Because fried chicken that isn't actually fried chicken is just what our trust issues need (we’re not complaining).

Ziyad El-Helbawy

In an act of icy culinary innovation hitherto unknown to our humble taste buds, Abdel Rahim Koueider has just announced all-out frozen warfare on the blistering heat of Cairo's sun in their own creative and cuckoo - pun very much intended - way.

With all the crunch and none of the grease, meat, spices, or actual bird whose legs we frequently fry (we wouldn't marinate your stomach like that), Abdel Rahim Koueider's latest menu addition, the aptly named 'Not Fried Chicken' ice cream, promises to deceive both your eyes and taste buds into believing you're savoring that succulent chicken drumstick.

Carved into an unmistakable imitation of a drumstick, the experimental addition offers a vanilla ice cream base sprinkled with a crunchy fried coating comprised mainly of the sort of golden sweet magic that puts our shattered hopes and dreams back together - or in other words, crunched wafer biscuits.

Visually, the ‘Not Fried Chicken’ ice cream looks uncannily genuine, concealing the fact that what you're biting into is actually cold instead of hot, and sweet instead of spicy. One might even say it's a perfect companion to a certain three-lettered chain’s actual drumsticks. Room for a collaboration, perhaps?
