Egypt's Qasr El Kababgy Steps Into "Fine Dining"
The red chairs and gold accents that once screamed “old Cairo grandeur” have been swapped out for a sleeker, cleaner palette—white sculptures, softer lighting, heritage but make it modern.
Egypt’s self-proclaimed “Celebrity Restaurant" has decided it’s time for a glow-up. Qasr El Kababgy, the long-standing heavyweight of grills and molokhia theatrics, has re-emerged in Tagamoa with a new look and a new attitude—one that sways marimba with fine dining.
Gone are the red chairs and gold frills. In their place: white walls, sculptures, mood lighting, and waiters carrying plates like they’re Fabergé eggs. There’s even a non-alcoholic bar, a live violin section, and the same beloved molokhia show with live drums, because refinement still needs rhythm.
The menu’s been refreshed; the oriental classics — kebab, molokhia, mahshi, all the comfort dishes that built the empire, still headline. But now, they share the stage with new arrivals: fattah that’s got a touch of flair and fajitas, all with a new modern presentation of the food fitting of the facelift.
