Qarura Is the Brand Giving the ‘2ola’ a Makeover

They're here to put eco-friendliness on the dinner table.

Staff Writer

The founders of Dayra Camp and Mobikya have joined forces to create a product that marries their love of the environment and traditional handicrafts. Here to help tackle environmental issues using the underestimated ‘2olla’, is Qarura. Using glazed clay bottles, these eco-friendly products are not only an ode to the lifestyles of our forefathers, but are crafted specifically for its owner by order.

Brought into creation by Mohamed Serag Eldin and Ibrahim A. Abougendy, the new crafts brand aims to use age-old arts techniques for practical, long-term solutions. At only EGP79 per bottle, the eco-friendly alternative is healthier and, in the long run, cheaper than disposable plastic bottles. “It’s humble and simple, but it was done with so much passion and interest. It’s a side business for both of us, but because the environment is so important to us we’re trying to do everything we can to help, both in our primary business and through Qarura,” Mohamed Serag Eldin told us.

The brand is now in operation after a six month launch phase, and is looking forward to releasing many more bottle variations in new shapes and colours, as well as other clay homeware products. For businesses like restaurants, eco-lodges, and hotels Qarura will be offering customizable batches very soon. Spinning rustic design, heritage arts, and eco-friendliness into one is something we can get behind any day.
