There's a Friends-Themed Maadi Restaurant and It's Called 'Central Burg'

Hey, how you doin’? Way back in 2015, Friends fans living anywhere but Port Said, where green with jealousy at the news of the opening of Egypt’s very first ‘Central Perk’, located in the North Eastern port city. In 2019, our prayers were answered when a new ‘Central Perk’ opened its doors to Cairene with  branch in New Cairo. And now, a new burger spot has rolled into Maadi, cleverly-named Central Burg that follows the same theme of the iconic ‘Central Perk’ on the series. Could we be any more excited?

Serving as the perfect spot to take your fellow Friends-loving….well, friends, or your lobster, ‘Central Burg’ menu – with most dishes named after Friends references or episode titles – offers sandwiches like the ‘Joey Special’ (which, unfortunately, isn’t two pizzas but is instead a chicken sandwich ft. special sauce, onion rings, cheese and more), ‘The One with the Mushroom’, and a cheddar-stuffed fried chicken sandwich called Hugsy’s (if you know, you know). The spot also serve a spin on Ross’ sandwich – using a turkey patty – called ‘Thanksgiving Leftover Sandwich.’

If you’re more of a beef burger stan, you could opt for ‘Smelly Cat’ (made with pomegranate molasses, onion rings and blue cheese), ‘The One with the Ranch’ or – if you’re feeling a little adventurous ‘The One in Barbados’ which incorporates fresh pineapple and peanut butter. The spot also serves a bunch of appetizers and sides (be better than Joey and learn to share food).
