This spot is a haven for sushi and teppanyaki lovers in New Cairo.

We don’t pick favourites when it comes to different cuisines from around a world , but we have to admit that we have a soft spot for Japanese cuisine. Its simplicity, lightness yet intense flavours keep us coming back for more. Looking to transport diners from Cairo to Tokyo (without ever needing to get on a plane) is a new restaurant in New Cairo called ‘Santoku’, dedicated to offering the authentic Japanese teppanyaki and a wide range of sushi, including several delicious inspired from across Asia, all in an upscale yet cosy setting.

The restaurant offers a selection of Asian soups like the Thai Tom Yum soup, which hits just the right notes of sour and spicy, in addition to an authentic Japanese Miso Soup. For salads, you can opt for their fresh salmon, avocado and crab salad, green salad or the spot’s special “Santoku Salad’ featuring chopped salmon, avocado, cucumber and a light ginger soy dressing.

If you feel like sushi, ‘Santoku’ serves Hoso Maki (salmon, tuna, crab, eel and more, fried maki rolls (including hot tuna roll and hot dynamite roll), as well as a range of nigiri and special maki rolls. The restaurant also comes through with an authentic teppanyaki (with your choice of rib eye, jumbo shrimp, grilled chicken and more) experience where the chef displays some serious skills and tricks. For dessert, we recommend the cooked pear pie with cinnamon for the perfect end to the meal.

You can find ‘Santoku’ at Helnan Landmark. To book your table, call +2 012 1266 9999.
