Zooba Just Made It on Bon Appétit's NYC100 List

Can we hear a zaghroota?

Staff Writer

It’s not Zooba that’s lucky to be on Bon Appetit’s NYC100 List, it’s rather a congrats to Bon Appetit for having Zooba bless its heavily-vetted food recommendations list.

For one of the world’s biggest food magazines, to consider dining recommendations as being situational is a smart approach, which is why their NYC100 list is one of the coolest, first-of-its-kind restaurant lists we’ve ever seen. The list garners suggestions for where to eat and drink depending on whichever scenario you find yourself in. Thinking of brunch, but also not really? A Japanese breakfast falls under their pick for The Place for the Opposite of Brunch. Craving anchovy first thing in the morning? They know a good place for that too. Thankfully so?

As of this week, Zooba has been newly added as its pick for ‘The Place for Off-the-Wall Design and Egyptian Comfort Food’. Needless to say, it’s the elephant in the room. Much like what we love about our home-bred branches, Bon Appetit praises the Egyptian fast-casual restaurant’s graphic murals which bring a slice of Om El-Donia to New York. Go for its scenic ambiance and stay for the bessara dip, they say. We agree, Bon Appetit.

Zooba opened the doors of its first American branch in NYC last September, and it’s been having New Yorkers smitten ever since.

So, New York, if you ever feel like the combination of Egyptian comfort food and off-the-wall design sound like an appetising idea, Bon Appetit suggests ordering foul, zaatar fries, and pickled lemon taameya.

Keep making us proud, Zooba!
