This Korba Pizza Spot Lowers Your Order in a Basket

At Non Pizza in Korba, ordering is part of the experience: shout your order from the pavement and watch it arrive in a basket lowered from above.

For generations, Cairenes have hauled groceries and household essentials up to their balconies in baskets suspended from ropes. At Non Pizza in Korba, that familiar ritual has found an unlikely new purpose.

Located on the second floor of 7 Baghdad Street, the pizzeria serves Neapolitan-style pizza through a playful ordering system. Customers call their order up to the chef at the second-floor window before watching their pizza descend in a basket lowered from the balcony.

“We wanted to try something new that was different from the typical ways people order pizza like drive-through, takeaway, regular delivery or sitting in," Taha Mossa Attia, owner of Non Pizza, tells SceneEats. "We thought, let's try out a new idea that people can have fun with.”

The concept made its debut during a soft opening in late June, when the pizzeria offered complimentary pizzas to visitors, followed by one final giveaway in early July.

“The reaction has been great," Attia says. "People have surprised us by how much they have loved the idea."

The menu officially launched at the beginning of July and remains intentionally concise, featuring three Neapolitan-style pizzas: Margherita, Pepperoni and Truffle Mushroom.

Non Pizza is open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
