11 Hilariously Named Egyptian Knockoffs Replacing Our Favourite Imported Snacks
When our imported delicacies become too expensive to enjoy on a daily basis, we’re left with the Egyptian local equivalent that tastes somewhere in the same vicinity as edible.
Just like every other sensible person in Egypt, the recent price hikes have wholeheartedly saddened and forced us to forgo our heavenly breakfast, lunch, and dinner spread – Nutella. Yeah, we know you eat a spoonful of it with every meal because that’s the mature and practical thing to do, obviously.
But the price hikes are not only limited to Nutella. Almost all of the imported goods coming to Egypt have become more expensive following the floatation of the pound, causing the public to resort the country’s home-grown brands.
By supporting these local brands, we give back to our community and those who work hard to make a living in Egypt and support the growth of our local economy. Despite all the benefits, economic development, employment, blah, blah, blah, our taste buds are in crisis!!! Moltobella will never be the same as Nutella. Ever.
In light of the shortages and the ridiculous prices of food, we’ve put together a list of 11 Egyptian brand rip-offs that you can buy as an alternative to your expensive imported delicacy. Ahem, they taste the same, we swear! And we are in no way obligated to say that.
