Cairo Cookies Is a Haven for Cookie Monsters Everywhere
This Cairo bakery was born out of a family cookie recipe and grew to become a one-stop shop for everything cookies.
When you think of typical Christmas dessert, the first thought that pops into your head is – more likely than not – the classic gingerbread cookie. Which is why we felt that now is as good a time as any to let you know about a Cairo-based bakery that was born out of a family tradition. In 2016, Jala El Gammal sought out to share her grandmother’s spicy gingerbread cookie recipe w circa 1988, and while specialising in only the gingerbread cookie, later expanded to include other types of cookies and desserts as well. Although the bakery was set up to target a niche market, Cairo Cookies still receives international orders.
Other than the classic gingerbread cookie, the bakery also offers traditional Christmas fruit cake, chocolate chip cookies, butter cookies, coconut balls, chocolate truffle, as well as some special items like white chocolate barks with rose petals, banoffee pie and Lotus cheesecake.
“What makes our bakery different the mix and quantity of spices we use. Cairo Cookies can be recognised by the unique smell of our items once the tin is opened,” El Gammal tells SceneEats, “Our products are made of the highest grade of raw ingredients available – even if unavailable in the local market – and we make sure to stock up before the [holiday] season.”
