Go Home Christmas Cookies, Marrons Glaces Are on Sale at Groppi
The OG Christmas treat is making a comeback in our homes thanks to Groppi’s new discount.
Whenever we think of Groppi, we can’t help but think of every single old Egyptian movie where the couple go out on their first date there. We mean, it’s either Groppi or Casino by the Nile. It’s just a thing that used to happen. But nowadays, these joints are still around and have practically become a part of our national history. But even 120 years later, Groppi is far from expired.
A while back, the eatery got a cool new makeover, but still makes those classy treats that remind us of the Golden Age we love so much. And now, one of those treats is going on sale for the new year. Marrons glaces, a childhood favourite.
If you aren’t familiar with the sugary treat, first of all we judge you, second of all its essentially candied chestnut. Basically, you cook chestnuts in syrup for days on end and the result is a sugary, glorious thing to behold. What’s more, its a classic delicacy in France and Italy around Christmas-time which, *drumroll*, is just around the corner. It’s now on sale for EGP 1,999 per kilo instead of EGP 2,500. Still expensive due to the price of chestnuts, but a far better deal than you’ll get elsewhere.
