If there’s anything Egyptian food history and tradition is lacking – is proper online presence and representation – and a brand new YouTube series called ‘D-Tabkha’ is trying to shake things up by spotlighting a different Egyptian dish every episode and not only shows you a step-by-step video recipe, but also tells you a little bit about the history behind each dish, it’s variations across different governorates within Egypt, as well as its its cultural significance (all within super snackable short videos).

So far, the series – which is produced by DX-Media - has shed light on the Egyptian staples koshary, molokheya, mehalabeya, hawawshy and their latest episode – which is all about balady bread (often considered almost synonymous with Egypt itself) – presenting interesting facts about these dishes and what they mean to Egyptians today.
