This New Fried Chicken Spot Makes Multicultural Chicken

If your chicken doesn’t have at least 4 flags in its Instagram bio, we don’t want it.

Layla Raik

Hunting for fried chicken is no simple feat, despite its seeming convenience. In my experience, every time my friends and I would get together to embark on the journey of choosing where we were going to go for fried chicken, there’s always someone who goes, “What difference does it make? Can we just choose any of these?” Of course we can’t, real connoisseurs understand that fried chicken is a delicate art, and that, if done correctly, it can change the trajectory of your life.

By now, you’ve gathered we don’t joke around about our fried chicken. So, when we heard word on the street that a new fried chicken spot has opened up in Cairo as an “Al Baik dupe” - as in, a dupe of Saudi Arabia’s beloved fried chicken spot and most prized possession - we rushed over to Dijaja before you could say ‘musahab wrap’.

Led by a philosophy of fusion of East and West, Dijaja is built on a harmonious combination of flavours. The restaurant combines Western breading and frying techniques with the unique sting of Eastern seasoning. It’s almost the same as regular fried chicken, but with a little more. Besides, Dijaja doesn’t just make fried chicken, it also ventures into grilled chicken territory - which means your resident gym bro can get a taste of the spot’s special seasoning as well. Perhaps Dijaja is even better than an Al Baik dupe.

Fried, grilled or even in the form of delicious and authentic musahab, you can dip your chicken in Dijaja’s wide selection of sauces to elevate its flavour profile to unprecedented levels. We’d recommend a visit with as many friends as you can gather, so you can get to order as many sauces as you’d like (guilt-free) and get a taste of them all.
