Egypt’s First Dry Rub Shop Has Entered the Building
Dry rubs are about to be our latest meat prep habit.
The thing about cooking is that while we follow certain steps, measurements, and cooking times, there is no right and wrong. Add a little more butter to a sugar cookie, and you have shortbread. And a little coconut milk and spice to a stew, and you have a curry. No matter what you throw into the mix you have a beautiful, albeit different, creation. The same applies to seasoning and marination. We’re told to leave meat and chicken to soak in marinades for as long as humanly possible for maximum flavour absorption. Then, the world of dry rubs comes and changes that, too. That new seasoning method has made its way to Egypt with Weekend Rubs new product line.
Mixed entirely by hand, this little shop makes spice mixes that you can add to your steak, chicken, fish, veggies, or really whatever. The idea is that you give you rub the spice mix onto the meat the same way you would apply cream onto your own skin, and pop it onto the grill, resulting in a smokey crust of flavour encasement.
The seasoning style is mainly a Southern state tradition in America, where its used on a variety of dishes like ribs, steaks, briskets, or chicken. Weekend Rubs makes three main flavours at the moment, including Mediterranean, Sweet Texas, and All Purpose. Get yours through their site, weekendrubs.com.
