Comfort Food Meets With Sophistication at Moxie
The restaurant serves ingredient-driven fine dining vibes in a comfortable, familiar setting.
With a desire to create a fine dining concept in a comfortable space, New Cairo’s Moxie was just launched with a soft opening on November 26th. The spot serves international food that aims to honour each ingredients in own right, all cooked using old school techniques with a modern twist. The restaurant uses the Spanish Josper charcoal ovens for and a wood-burning oven for pizzas, and aims to create an inviting, cosy setting – with an attention to detail on the mind – all the while focusing on the quality of its dishes and ingredients.

Carrying on the attention to detail in the design, to the menu items itself, the spot carefully-curates its ingredients, all the way down to the type and quality of the flour used to make the pizzas, the marinara sauce, to the bread, which is baked in-house. Moxie also serves straight up earthly vibes – in keeping with its celebration of natural ingredients - with its banana and bonsai trees (amongst other plants) which you’ll find on-site.
“With Moxie, I wanted to open a place where you can go every day,” founder Ahmed Youssry tells SceneEats, “Many people can cook through years of experience, but may not possess the craft an finesse to truly master the art of cooking. What Moxie is aiming to do is provide that craft, use the best ingredients on the market and create a setting inspired by serenity and nature, all the way from the interior to the food itself.”

The restaurant – which features handmade metal sculptures and a myriad of artistic touches with an outdoor area overlooking a vast garden – offers a dynamic international menu featuring Italian classics, Asian food, a range of steaks, and some special items like jerk chicken and Italian parsley chicken, in addition to rotisserie chicken cooked in the Josper charcoal oven.
