LEYA isn't exactly a person but a brand, but we'll pretend that she is because, well, we want to.

Stand in front of the olive-oil section at any supermarket and you’ll start asking yourself so many questions. Is this one better for cooking or finishing? Should I stick to Italian oils, or try Greek, or Egyptian? Is there such a thing as a good and affordable olive oil? Well, this is where LEYA, your new fav extra person, comes in to your rescue.  LEYA isn't exactly a person but a brand, but we'll pretend that she is because, well, we want to.

LEYA is quite new to Om El Donia's food scene, but she deserves her spot because she makes extra virgin oil that is locally produced. "LEYA is derived from the Koloneiki olives that are homegrown and handpicked from Egyptian farms," Dina Targam, one of co-founders of the brand (fine, she's a brand now), tells SceneEats. "We currently source our olive oils from Ismailia and Sinai, where the olives are cold pressed and only the oil from the first pressed is utilised, ensuring the quality of our product."

The olive oil from LEYA

All of LEYA's products are free of any preservatives, food colouring or any substance other than pure, raw extra virgin oil. Prices also start from EGP 70 to EGP 220, making it the most amaze and affordable olive oil you will ever spend money on.

Oh, and if you want to know which ones are best for cooking or finishing, you simply just have to ask LEYA. The person or the brand, it doesn't matter.
