Mashro3 Mat3am Launches a Campaign to Deliver Free Meals to Every Hospital Worker in Cairo
This Downtown concept restaurant has started an initiative with the ultimate aim of feeding healthcare workers across Cairo for free.
Downtown’s cosiest eco-friendly concept restaurant Mashro3 Mata3am has launched a campaign to deliver fresh, chemical-free meals to hospital workers across Cairo, starting with the entire hospital staff working the night shift at Qasr Al-Ainy Hospital’s Oncology unit. The restaurant was started by a group of friends looking to create delicious Egyptian and international food that’s completely fresh, and is ecofriendly goals. It uses almost no plastic, doesn’t turn on the AC to protect the environment, recycles and repurposes food (for example, using oil for frying to make liquid soap).
“Because we’re going through a difficult time and those supporting the entire country right now are hospital workers, we decided to send them food that’s sanitised, natural and fresh,” Catherine Manoly, Mashro3 Mat3am founder told Scene Eats. “We launched the campaign مبادرة_الجيش_الأبيض#.”
The super important campaign also invites other restaurants to start donating meals to hospitals if they’re able to, as a token of appreciation for the brave and tireless people who are holding down the fort right now. The campaign has also donated meals to Imbaba Fever Hospital with the help of a local charity organisation Abwab El-Kheir, and are currently working on expanding to donating to other hospitals as well.
